Description
Vertical (some cut off in sample views, but not in full image). Yellow-bordered Taildropper land slug (Prophysaon foliolatum), 5 cm long; and a Little Gym mushroom (Gymnopilus penetrans), portray a real fairy tale on this icy November day with a trace of snow on the ground near Portland, Oregon USA. Much to my surprise, the last thing I expected to encounter on my backwoods photo hike was a wide awake slug eating a healthy fresh mushroom.
The slug is called “taildropper” because he will unloose his tail if a predator grabs it. Then the slug simply grows a new one.
Some people LOVE the picture and some HATE it, but it has proven to be a good seller.
