IMAGE: 43,489.03922 – This beautiful snow covered winter landscape of Mount Hood shows a multitude of enticing ravines, gullies, and ridges leading to the top. Here – at tree line (about 6,500’) – only a few narrow and short conifer trees survive. For the inexperienced, the mountain’s beauty belies the dangers that await people who try to reach its 11,250 foot top. It is the tallest mountain in Oregon, USA, and about 10,000 people attempt to climb it each year. As of 2018, more than 175 people have died while making the climb.
